The hourly rate is derived from the monthly basic salary: Monthly Salary ÷ 30 days ÷ 8 hours = Hourly Rate. Overtime is then applied at the relevant multiplier.
Saudi Labour Law Article 107 entitles employees to additional pay for hours worked beyond the standard 8-hour day (or 6 hours during Ramadan).
| Scenario | Overtime Rate |
|---|---|
| Weekday overtime (beyond 8 hrs) | 125% of hourly rate |
| Weekend / rest day work | 150% of hourly rate |
| Public holiday work | 150% of hourly rate |
| Ramadan regular hours (max 6/day) | Normal rate |
| Ramadan overtime (beyond 6 hrs) | 125% of hourly rate |
The hourly rate is derived from the monthly basic salary: Monthly Salary ÷ 30 days ÷ 8 hours = Hourly Rate. Overtime is then applied at the relevant multiplier.
Example: An employee earning SAR 6,000/month works 10 overtime hours on weekdays:
Hourly rate = 6,000 ÷ 30 ÷ 8 = SAR 25/hr
Overtime rate = 25 × 1.25 = SAR 31.25/hr
Total overtime = 31.25 × 10 = SAR 312.50
Overtime compensation in Saudi Arabia is strictly regulated by the Labor Law (Article 107). If an employer requires you to work beyond the standard working hours (usually 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week), you are entitled to overtime pay calculated at 150% of your basic hourly wage plus applicable allowances. Use this calculator to accurately determine your overtime earnings for standard extra hours, weekends, and official public holidays.
